Sterling Community School - Volunteer Application

We appreciate your interest in volunteering at Sterling Community School. Our district offers a variety of activities you may choose from when volunteering your time. Simply complete and submit a volunteer application and upon approval you will receive instructions on next steps.

It is very important that the information you enter on the application matches your government issued identification card including your full legal name. It is important that you provide a valid email address so you can be notified as to the status of your application and for future communication. If you are unable to provide an email address, you use the district’s email address. All information collected on the application will remain confidential and not be shared outside the volunteer program.

Once you have completed the online application, you will need to submit additional paperwork to the Main Office physically. This includes an Authorization for DCF CPS Background Check, Volunteer Information Form, and a Waiver of Liability. These forms are available at: https://www.sterlingschool.org/volunteer-app.

You will have to sign and hand-in the completed application to the Main Office or District Office.

By providing your signature, you are agreeing to abide by the rules and regulations of the District Volunteer Program. Board of Education policies require that we run a criminal background check and sex offender registry lookup of all volunteers. The State of Connecticut has additional forms which will also need to be submitted with your application. To submit your online volunteer application, you will be required to provide your United States social security number and authorize JDP, our background screening service, to perform a criminal background check. Your social security number is only used for this purpose and we do not retain this information.

This form must be physically signed and handed to the Main Office. Digital Signatures (E-Signatures) are not accepted for these documents. Upon submission of these documents, please allow up to two weeks for us to review and process your application. You will be notified via e-mail when a decision has been made.
