About Sterling Community School

Nestled in Connecticut's quiet corner on the Rhode Island border, Sterling's green pastures and scenic views create a rural charm that is hard to beat. The town is one hour from Providence, RI, Hartford, CT and Worcester, MA. While Sterling appears to be just a quiet residential town, it has a steadily growing economic base, largely due to the manufacturing sites housed in the Sterling Industrial Park.

The Sterling School District provides students a comprehensive program of core and related arts or "specials" curricula along with student support services required to maximize student achievement and performance. Beginning with the school's accredited pre-school and full-day kindergarten programs, the certified and non-certified staff and administrators at the Sterling Community School address the academic, social, and emotional needs of students through a continuum of student support services. Students graduating from the school attend various high school programs in the region; however, Plainfield High School, through the terms of a cooperative agreement with the town of Sterling, educates a majority of Sterling's high school age students. The school facility is seven years old and provides students and staff an inviting learning and working environment equipped with access to technology used for both instructional and administrative purposes.

The mission of the Sterling School District is to develop life-long learners to become responsible citizens of the world by creating a motivating, supportive environment which fosters meaningful learning and provides for the development of each individual to his/her highest potential.
