The Science Program at the Sterling Community School provides a foundation in scientific literacy and prepares students to be confident and capable lifelong learners who are equipped with the skills needed to access, understand, evaluate, and apply information in various scientific contexts. Regardless of their academic standing, all students have access to a rich and challenging science curriculum that promotes scientific literacy, while inspiring and supporting advanced study and science-related careers. Sterling Community School offers science curriculum at each grade level and for all students.
The major components of the Science Program are as follows:
Students identify and recognize the fields of science that involve the scientific study of living organisms, like plants, animals and human beings.
Students understand the branches of natural science and the science that studies non-living systems.
Students understand that sciences may include the study of the atmosphere, hydrosphere, oceans, and biosphere, as well as the solid earth.
Technology in Science
Students recognize that scientific data can be analyzed to make informed decisions using a variety of strategies, tools and technologies.
